Laurie has set up a wonderful Facebook community for home gardeners. If you grow herbs and vegetables, and have an excess of a crop, you can post up what you have and what you’d like – and connect with locals to swap with! Free, community-building and promoting boutique, sustainable gardening.

Join Laurie for a Garden Tour
Laurie from Crop Swap Sydney has been kind enough to show us around her beautiful garden.
Here’s living (and growing) proof that having your own herb and vegetable garden is possible. Laurie is able to use the perimeter of her yard for gardening that serves most of the healthy goodies for the family meals.
If you’re looking to set up you’re own beautiful, sustainable herb and vegetable garden please check out our article called, shockingly, start your own vegetable and herb garden!
On the tour you may be in for some surprises…
Have you ever seen a bee hotel?
Heard of trees that bear different fruit at the same time?
Please watch the video for these, and a full rundown of the crops that Laurie grows.
Laurie uses a number of tried and true gardening techniques to make the most of what she has.
These include rotating garden beds, planting companion plants, and, of course, sticking to what’s in season.
A tool she recommends to help stay on top of your planting and harvesting times is an App called Gardenate.
You can find out more about it on our Resources Page.
A big “Thanks” again to Laurie for making the time to give us this garden tour, and for sharing information and insights that will help us to be better home gardeners.
